Reward Finance Group has presented £20,000 to two charities, either side of the Pennines, following 12 months of fundraising activities.

Harrogate-based Just ‘B’, which offers bereavement support, and Reuben’s Retreat in Glossop, which provides a sanctuary for families caring for life limiting disabilities and illnesses, as well as bereavement counselling, each received a donation of £10,000 each.

The money was raised by teams in Reward Finance Group’s Leeds and Manchester offices through a variety of events throughout the year. These included hosting a quiz night attended by over 200 people, running several golf events and holding their first darts tournament – all well attended and supported by their key industry contacts. They have also taken part in bake offs, sponsored runs and bike rides.

Through the generosity of clients, colleagues, professional contacts and friends, the team raised £9,937.55 for both charities, which was match funded by Reward to bring the total up to an amazing £20,000 which was shared equally between the two chosen charities.

Speaking about the donations, Reward Finance Group’s Managing Director for Yorkshire and the North East, Gemma Wright, said,

“Just ‘B’ and Reuben’s Retreat both provide an invaluable service to children, young people, adults and families at an extremely distressing and difficult time.

“Both rely on public support and donations, so every penny raised helps such worthwhile charities, which made us determined to raise as much money as possible over the last 12 months.

“Just ‘B’ which is part of Saint Michael’s Hospice will be able to use the money to enable its experienced practitioners to continue to provide both one-to-one and group sessions, including visits to schools and communities, which may have experienced a major crisis.

“And, Reuben’s Retreat will be able to add to their excellent facilities with its ambitious plans to build a hydrotherapy pool, sensory and chill zones and fully accessible family break out apartments.”

Speaking about the donation, Tony Collins, Chief Executive of Saint Michael’s and Just ‘B’, said:

“We are delighted to receive this generous donation towards Just ‘B’s services from Reward Finance Group.

“This support will make a remarkable difference to the work we do in our local community helping children, young people and adults to understand, express and learn to manage their grief.

“We are very grateful to all involved for their kindness and dedication in raising this amount.”Nicola Graham, Founder of Reuben’s Retreat, added,

“We thank every single member of the team at Reward Finance Group for being part of #reubensjourney.

“We always say that Reuben’s Retreat will be built on an army of love and compassionate hearts and we are truly grateful for every ounce of compassion and love that Reward Finance Group has brought our way. They have been hugely supportive, raised much needed funds and championed our cause.

“We promise always to spend every penny wisely and with integrity, ensuring it goes as far as it can. It has been an honour to have their support and two words that never seem big enough, “THANK YOU.”
